Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – The Brandon Bobcats men’s volleyball team made quick work of the Winnipeg Wesmen in Game 1 of the Canada West quarter-final series.
The Bobcats defeated Winnipeg in three sets (25-21, 25-20 and 25-23).
Elliott Viles had 11 kills for the Bobcats, while Mason Metcalf collected nine kills and four team blocks for BU.
Reece Dixon delivered a double-double with 29 assists and 10 digs.
Meanwhile, Adrian Dyck had a match-high 12 kills in a losing cause for the Wesmen.
The third and final set was the toughest for Brandon, as they coughed up a five point lead, and were trailing by one point when Winnipeg scored their 22nd point.
James Weir put the nail in the coffin with a kill which was blocked out of bounds.
Brandon looks to clinch the series at the Healthy Living Centre at 7:00pm on Saturday night.
If it goes the distance, a third and deciding game would be played on Sunday at 4:00pm.
