Brandon, MB (CKLQ) - In an effort to curb distracted driving, Brandon Police has increased patrolling during distracted driving awareness month.
From April 3rd through the 11th Brandon Police have issued 69 tickets to motorists.
However, less than half of the charges were for operating a motor vehicle while using a cell phone.
BPS officers caught 29 motorists on their cell phone while behind the wheel.
According to BPS statistics seven other driving infractions make up for the other tickets handed out during traffic patrols thus far this month.

- 1 Drive Disqualified
- 3 Invalid Driver’s License
- 10 Unregistered Vehicle
- 8 No Vehicle Insurance
- 14 Disobey Traffic Control devices
- 1 other HTA
Brandon Police remind motorists that patrols will be ramped up through the remainder of this month.
