Brandon, MB (CKLQ) - In what could be considered a nice surprise, Brandon-based band, The Middle Coast, will be off to Japan for 11 concert dates during April.
The band features Brandonites Liam Duncan, Dylan MacDonald and Roman Clarke.
Duncan says he knew the band would be touring in other countries, but never considered Japan.
"I always thought the first time we went overseas, we would be going to Europe," said Duncan. "But I'm happy it is Japan."
The Middle Coast recently signed with Japanese Label MOORWORKS and will be releasing an album there in April.
Along with the album release they will be performing in locations around Japan including Tokyo, Osaka and Matsumoto.
Before heading to the country, Duncan says he has heard that they will be playing in a different atmosphere.
"Here in Canada, crowds can get pretty rowdy," said Duncan. "But what we've heard is that in Japan they are very respectful and are very attentive."
Along with the news of going to Japan, the band also announced they will be performing at Junofest next week in Vancouver.
"It's a showcase where we will be playing with up and coming bands." said Duncan.
Junofest takes place March 26.
