Cartwright, MB (CKLQ) - RCMP have arrested a Brandon man in connection to a series of thefts in Cartwright.
On Friday, March 9 at around 2:35 a.m., Killarney RCMP said they received a call about an abandoned vehicle and a suspicious man walking around a residence with a shovel.
Police said they drove to the residence and found a vehicle stuck in snow, but the suspicious man was gone.
According to police, the person associated with the abandoned vehicle was known to officers, and was under a court imposed curfew.
A check of his residence did not locate him.
Around 4:35 a.m., police said a patrol unit witnessed another suspicious vehicle pull into a property, and a man quickly fled on foot.
Police said that vehicle was later reported stolen, and the suspect escaped police by stealing another nearby vehicle.
Later in the morning, police said they received a report about a break-and-enter at a business on Bowles St. in Cartwright.
Police said the suspect pried his way in and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
According the police, the suspect was eventually arrested near Highway 5 after officers received a tip of a suspicious person walking in the area.
Police said the 29-year-old man was arrested without incident, and faces multiple charges for theft and breaking a curfew.
RCMP continue to investigate.
