Police seize weapons and meth during investigation

An update on the shooting incident which took place in Brandon yesterday.

Upon further investigation of the address where the incident took place Brandon Police located 1 oz. of Methamphetamine, and two firearms.

One firearm was a sawed off rifle, and the other a long rifle.

A-33-year-old male has been arrested for the possession of the firearms and the Meth.

He was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre, and will appear in court today for various drug and weapons related charges.




A 34-year-old woman is in Winnipeg hospital with serious injuries after a shooting overnight in Brandon.

Near 4 a.m., police were called to a house in the 1000 block of 9th street.

The woman was taken to Brandon Regional Health Centre, then transferred to the Health Sciences Centre.  

Her wounds are being characterized as serious but not life-threatening.

A number of individuals in the house have been taken in for questioning, and Brandon Police's Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate.

Police say the incident does not appear to have been random.
