Brandon, MB (CKLQ) - The Brandon Wheat Kings stunned the #3 ranked team in the CHL on Friday night, beating the Swift Current Broncos 6-3 in front of 4240 fans at Westoba Place.

Evan Weinger netted the hat-trick for the Wheat Kings who earned a valuable two points in the East Division standings on a night when the Prince Albert Raiders won and the Saskatoon Blades earned a single point in an OT loss.

The Broncos jumped out to both 2-0 and 3-2 leads but on both occasions the Wheat Kings responded. Linden McCorrister, Ty Lewis and Cole Reinhardt had the other goals for the Wheat Kings who have now won two in a row.

Logan Thompson left the game after 40 minutes with a "lower-body" injury, the Calgary, MB native made 21 saves on 24 shots. Dylan Myskiw turned aside all five shots he faced in his 20 minutes of action.

The Wheat Kings will continue this tough three in three weekend in Saskatoon tomorrow (7:05 MB time on QCountry Radio), before wrapping up the weekend in Moose Jaw on Sunday afternoon.
