Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – Police officers, fire officials, and the hazmat team were all at the Water Treatment Plant for a simulated chlorine leak.
It took place on Tuesday morning, and was part of a training exercise which takes place every four years.
Around fifty members were at the scene with participating or taking notes.
Director of Emergency Management Brian Kayes says it’s important these simulations take place.
"It allows us to test our planning, equipment and it allows our teams to work together," says Kayes, "We can find out what needs fixing and what we happy with."
Every year, groups get together and discuss planning for such type of event, but only once every four years do they actually get to put the plan in action.
The city response team will usually do another exercise like this, instead a the airport to simulate an airplane crash. No date has been set for the next exercise of that nature.
