Man fled from police after hitting wooden guardrail

Brandon, MB (CKLQ) - A 28-year-old Brandon man has been arrested after trying to drive away from police.

Brandon Police say around lunch hour on Tuesday, they were notified of a vehicle going the wrong way on a one-way street.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but it continued to keep on moving, eventually turning to go eastbound on Lorne Avenue.

Police say the vehicle ended up hitting a wooden guardrail on the 500 Block of Lorne Avenue.

The suspect left the vehicle and fled on foot but was eventually stopped by an off-duty officer who happened to be in the area.

The man is facing plenty of charges, including flight from police, driving while disqualified, and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

The man will be in court on Wednesday.
