Police say road conditions a factor in the crash that claimed three lives

Minnedosa, MB (CKLQ) - RCMP at Minnedosa have released more information about the three fatalities in the tragic accident at Highway 10.

Police say a 57-year-old woman and a 61-year-old woman, both from the RM of Glenella-Lansdowne, died at the scene.

The two women were in a small SUV when it lost control and rolled into the southbound lane at about 5:25p.m. yesterday.

The small SUV first struck a southbound car, then struck an RCMP vehicle.

A passenger in the southbound car, a 56-year-old female from Waywayseecappo, was also pronounced dead.

Three other occupants of the vehicle were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Neither RCMP officer was seriously injured.

There were a total of six vehicles involved in the collision with three additional people sent to hospital with minor injuries. 

RCMP Traffic Analysts, RCMP Coordinated Collision Investigation Team, along with Spruce Plains RCMP and Westman RCMP Traffic Services are jointly investigating.

Police say road conditions appear to have played a factor in the collision.

The crash shut down Highway 10 from 5:30p.m. until 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday.




Minnedosa, MB (CKLQ) - An update on the highway crash just south of Minnedosa on Highway 10 Wednesday afternoon.

Five people were taken to hospital, three of whom are fatalities, two others were treated for non life threatening injuries.

Officials say a vehicle veered onto the shoulder of the highway then over corrected the vehicle causing it to veer across the highway straight into oncoming traffic.

A total of six vehicles were involved in the crash including an RCMP cruiser.

Officials say alcohol was not a factor in the head on collision.

RCMP will be releasing the names of the deceased and full details later today.



Minnedosa, MB (CKLQ) - Three people perished in a two vehicle collision shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

The accident occurred on Highway ten five kilometers south of Minnedosa.

RCMP had the highway closed off for over six hours to clear debris and investigate.

The names of the deceased have not been released.

Highways remain snow covered with icy sections throughout Westman.

Conditions improve east of Brandon as roads are reported to be mainly bare and dry easy of Austin, MB.



Minnedosa, MB (CKLQ) - A major highway has been closed this evening as EMS crews work to clear an accident at 5:45p.m.

Officials from Manitoba Infrastructure report Highway 10, about five kilometers south of Minnedosa has been closed because of the motor vehicle collision. 

No word on injuries, nor how many vehicles were involved.

Officials advise avoiding the roadway if possible.
