Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – Former Blade Schael Higson had a goal and an assist as the Brandon Wheat Kings knocked off the Saskatoon Blades 5-3 on Tuesday night in front of 4700+ fans at Westoba Place.
Dylan Myskiw, who was making his third straight start turned in a stellar performance, kicking aside 40 shots for his 9th win of the season.
The Blades opened the scoring in the first period Logan Christensen found a rebound infront of Myskiw and buried his 5th of the season.
The Wheat Kings would respond as Linden McCorrister stretched his point streak to six games when he found the back of the net for the 19th time this season, beating Yorkton native Nolan Maier.
Marcus Sekundiak and Max Gerlach would exchange early 2nd period goals before Ty Lewis pin-balled a shot out of the corner into the net in what would stand up as the eventual game winner.
The Blades would get within one, but Evan Weinger would ice it as he reached the 30 goal mark for the first time in his career.
The win is the Wheat Kings 26th victory at Westoba Place this season, and officially eliminates the Saskatoon Blades from playoff contention.
The Wheat Kings will wrap up the WHL Regular Season with a home and home series vs the Moose Jaw Warriors this weekend, starting Friday at Mosaic Place. (8:00 MB time on QCountry Radio)
