Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – The Brandon AAA Midget Wheat Kings have promoted former assistant coach Chris Johnston to the head coaching duties for the 2018-2019 season.
Johnston has been the assistant coach for the past two seasons under outgoing head coach Tyson Ramsey.
Before coaching in Brandon, Johnston played hockey in the AHL, Central Hockey League, East Coast Hockey League and played five season in the WHL.
Johnston says the first deal of business is to find a new manager of the team, after Mike Brolund stepped down from his position.
He is also looking for new assistant coaches.
"I’m excited to get started," said Johnston. "Nothing is going to change drastically in the future."
