Local students shine at Winnipeg's Brain Bee

Brandon well represented by Vincent Massey students

Brandon, MB (CKLQ) - Congratulations to the Vincent Massey students who took part in the 4th annual Winnipeg Brain Bee on March 10th.

The event hosted by the Manitoba Neuroscience Network, consists of two rounds of competition followed by sessions where students learn more about the exciting field of neuroscience.

Juliana Heibert, Bailey Dickie, Sydney Foster, Elayna Paddock-Thiessen, Azka Ahmed and Muhammad Hayat competed in the preliminary round.

Elayna, Azka, and Muhammad moved on to the final round competing against eight other students from various Winnipegh high schools.

Their hard work and preparation paid off as Azka placed third and Muhammad placed first overall.

This is the second year in a row that Vincent Massey students have placed first and third in this competition.

While representing Manitoba, Muhammad moves on to the Canadian National Brain competition in May at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario where he will compete for the chance to represent Canada at the International Brain Bee in Berlin, Germany.
