Brandon, MB (CKLQ) - One of two men arrested in connection with the Town of Virden's abandoned schoolhouse fire last month was in court today.

Jack Noel Sandy, 19, faces multiple charges including arson in the fire that gutted the Ross Consolidated schoolhouse just outside of the town back on September 24.

RCMP say a second man was also arrested and will be in court on December 8. They did not specify his charges, except to say it is in connection with the fire.

RCMP say they don't believe the school fire has any connection with the fire that decimated three historic building that same weekend the downtown Virden.

The schoolhouse opened in 1915, then was closed down in the early 1960s.
