Man charged after allegedly damaging 15 cars in Portage hotel parking lot

Portage la Prairie, MB (CKLQ) - Fifteen vehicles are damaged after a 34-year-old man allegedly smashed their windows and stole items inside in a Super 8 Hotel parking lot in Portage la Prairie.

RCMP say it happened early on February 9 when witnesses heard banging coming from the lot outside of the hotel.

Officers found fifteen vehicles damaged including missing items from some of the parked cars, but never found a suspect.

Later in the day, a man was taken into custody after causing a disturbance at a local ATM lobby.

The officers then found out he was responsible for the violence outbreak at the hotel.

Luis Manuel Padilla is charged with fourteen counts of mischief over $5000, obstruction of a police officer and theft under $5000.
