Just how big is the film industry in Manitoba? Approximately 2000 Manitobans are employed in the film industry which has contributed to over $1.2 billion to the Manitoba economy over the past ten years.

On Screen along with RBC and the Gimli Film Festival have announced the finalists for the 8th Annual RBC $10,000 Emerging Filmmaker Pitch Competition.
This year the competition saw 19 submissions from emerging Manitoba filmmakers.
An independent pre-selection jury selected 5 projects to move on to the live pitch competition during the Gimli Film Festival on Saturday July 27 at 10 a.m. in the Gimli Theatre.

The RBC $10,000 Emerging Filmmaker Pitch Competition will open with the premiere screening of the short film Palm House (Eternal Youth) by the 2018 competition winner Erika Ulrich.
Each finalist has three minutes to pitch their short film idea to a jury of industry professionals and a live audience followed by five minutes of questions from the jury.
The jury will select one filmmaker to receive $10,000 in production funds through RBC, a mentorship with Brendon Sawatzky from the National Screen Institute, a one-year membership with On Screen Manitoba, a $5,000 Equipment Rental Grant Certificate courtesy of William F. White International and a premiere screening of their film at the 2020 Gimli Film Festival.
The Gimli Film Festival is the largest film festival in Manitoba.
