Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – If you bought a hat this weekend at Westman Place, chances are you went home without it.
Linden McCorrister recorded his first ever WHL hat-trick as the Brandon Wheat Kings knocked of the league leading Victoria Royals 4-2 on Saturday night.
McCorrister, who was the third player to turn the trick on the weekend was named the game’s first star.
For the 2nd straight night, powerplays played a key factor in the game. Brandon finished the night 2/8 on the man advantage while having to kill off seven Victoria chances.
Dean McNabb got the start in goal for Victoria in place of Griffen Outhouse who had started the previous eight games. McNabb was stellar, turning aside 37 shots in the losing cause.
At the other end, Logan Thompson earned his 2nd straight win compiling 24 saves in the process.
Tanner Kaspick also scored for Brandon who move to 9-3-0-1 on the season. Tyler Soy, and Matthew Phillips had goals for the Royals who are midway through a seven game eastern road trip.
Brandon is now off until Friday when they open a mini two-game road trip in Prince Albert.
