The new space will allow for the expansion of 20 new spots

Brandon, MB (CKLQ) - Assiniboine Community College's Early Learning Centre will be adding 20 more licensed spaces, including introducing toddler and infant spots.

The current ELC currently has 34 preschool spaces and is located at the Victoria Avenue East campus.

The ELC will remain at the Victoria Avenue East campus, but will be relocating to the second floor.

The new space will allow for the expansion of 20 new spots.

ACC President Mark Frison says the expansion is part of the province's plan to set up more child-care spaces across the province.

More about that story can be found here.

He adds it will help many prospective students.

Frison says the average age for students in the school is 26, and many already have children.

"Having additional spaces help students and staff." said Frison. "It'll allow students who can't come to schools, and opens up 20 new spots for them now."

The project will cost $800,000, being paid for by ACC and the Province of Manitoba.

The Centre is expected to be ready by the fall semester.
