Brandon, MB (CKLQ) - The 2019 edition of Brandon Wheat Kings Prospects Camp wrapped up on Sunday afternoon with Team White beating Team Black by a score of 6-3.

Over 30 of the Wheat Kings prospects took part in the three-day camp that included, practices, skills work, off-ice workouts, team building activities, and the annual intra-squad game.

"It's been a great weekend, as this is a high-end organization," said Rylan Roersma ('19 - 1st Rd, 16th). "Being around all the prospects and draft picks is great for me to gauge my skill level and my size compared to the other guys competing for spots on this team. It would be a great program to play for in the future."

On Sunday it was Team Black getting on the board first as Cabrel Labossiere found a loose puck and tucked it past Nicholas Jones just 4:50 into the game.

It didn't take long for Team White to respond as highly touted forward Jake Chiasson finished off a nifty three-way passing play to tap home his first goal of the morning.

Warroad, MN native Grant Slukynsky put Team White ahead late in the opening period with an awkwardly placed shot from the corner that somehow snuck under the pad of Cole Plowman and into the net.

Plowman would redeem himself moments later, absolutely robbing Jake Chiasson with the left pad on a three on one chance.

In the second, Tisdale Trojan forward Davis Chorney finished off a rush, netting his first goal of the game and second point of the night to put Team White ahead by a pair.

Chorney, a Nipawin, SK born forward, who was just recently added to the Wheat Kings 50-man protected list, would add his 2nd of the day in highlight reel fashion just moments later. He picked up the puck in the offensive zone and weaved his way in and out-waited Connor Ungar opening up a commanding three-goal lead for Team White.

Team Black would get back in the game late in the 2nd period, as signed forward Bode Hagan beat Plowman to cut the lead to two. Owen Weihs and Jaxon Dube would exchange goals in the final two minutes of the 2nd to send the teams to the locker room with Team White ahead 5-3.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the third period and it was a Nolan Ritchie empty netter that would seal the victory for Team White

The three goalies in camp rotated between the two nets throughout the game. Connor Ungar stopped 27 of 30 shots, while Nicholas Jones turned aside 26 of 27 shots he faced and Cole Plowman stopped 24 of 28.

The players will now head home and begin their off-season training regimen, with hopes of continuing their development in the organization when Fall Camp opens at the end of August.

"It's been a great camp," said Owen Harris ('19 - 3rd Rd, 53rd). "I've learned a lot about myself and what I need to improve on for next season. I definitely need to work on my speed. I know I'm not the most skilled forward but I know I can make up for it with my work ethic."
