Brandon, MB (CKLQ) - The provincial police oversight body is revisiting testimony in a 2014 incident involving a Brandon Police officer in a local bar.
A Brandon police officer had charges resulting from the incident laid in 2016, but stayed in 2017.
However, a recent internal review of the matter by Brandon Police indicates one of their officers may have mislead the initial investigators, leading to the laying of charges.
As a result, the Independent Investigation Unit will pick up the case and investigate possible criminal conduct by a member of Brandon's force.
No further details will be provided by the IIU, who investigates all incidents involving Manitoba Police officers, at arm's length. IIU releases their findings once an investigation is complete.
