One of the trains leaked diesel fuel

Portage la Prairie, MB (CKLQ) - Two Canadian National freight trains that derailed near Portage on Thursday actually collided, according to the Transportation Safety Board.

One of the trains leaked diesel fuel 200 metres from the Assiniboine River.

Portage la Prairie's fire chief says luckily the trains didn't explode, as one was carrying hazardous goods.

Few details on the cause of the crash have been released, but the preliminary signs suggest the eastbound train hit the westbound train.
