The RCMP has officially thanked Onanole for its response to the shooting of a Mountie in that community last August.
The force took time this week to award Certificates of Appreciation to several residents of Onanole and surrounding communities.
“Businesses opened early, stayed opened late, and provided food, accommodations, and gas for officers to refuel. Everyone offered words of encouragement and support - it was truly a community effort that we’re very appreciative of, and we wanted to show our thanks and gratitude,” said S/Sgt. Dave Porter, Officer in Charge of the Yellowhead Area.
Therea Racette-Beaulieu was handed an 18-year sentence for shooting Cpl. Graeme Kingdon in the back of the head during a crime spree throughout Western Manitoba.
