Brandon, MB (CKLQ) - Nearly 200 power outages have been reported throughout Manitoba today.

According to the Manitoba Hydro website, as many as 5,000 customers have experienced power outages or may still be without power.

Crews are still out working to rectify the unplanned outages.

Brandon resident Larry W who resides in Highland Park believes an outage near his home may have been caused by a damaged power transformer.

"We heard a boom and our neighbors came over to ask what it was, it sure sounded like a transformer blowing," he said.

Manitoba Hydro could not be reached to confirm this report.

As of 2 p.m. over 2000 Manitoba Hydro customers in Brandon are without electricity.
