Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – The Brandon Wheat Kings wrapped up a five-game home stand on Saturday night falling 4-3 in overtime to the Medicine Hat Tigers.
It was the third straight time the Wheat Kings and Tigers have gone to extra time in this season series, Brandon had been victorious the previous two games.
Ryan Jevne scored the game winner just over a minute into the extra frame to give the Tigers the victory.
The Wheat Kings got goals from three different players on Saturday as Connor Gutenberg, Ty Lewis and Stelio Mattheos found ways to beat Michael Bullion in the Tiger goal. Bullion turned aside 22 of the 25 shots he faced.
Logan Thompson was named the games first star after stopping 34 of the 38 shots he faced, including a number of them in highlight reel fashion.
Despite the loss, the home stand can be considered a success as the Wheat Kings collected 8 of a possible 10 points, going 3-0-2-0 in the process.
Brandon now heads out on the annual West Coast trip, with five stops in the US Division on the schedule and two stops in Kootenay over a two week span. The trip will open on Wednesday in Spokane. (9:05 MB puck drop on QCountry Radio)
