Truck driver in Humboldt Broncos tragedy released on $1K bail

Melfort, SK (CKLQ) - The truck driver charged in a crash that killed 16 people with the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team bus has been released on $1,000 bail.

The 29-year-old Jaskirat Sidhu from Calgary, was released with several conditions, including not being allowed to drive and having to surrender his passport.

Sidhu is charged with 16 counts of dangerous driving causing death and 13 counts of dangerous driving causing bodily injury.

He appeared in a Melfort, Saskatchewan court Tuesday morning, where the case was put over to August 21.
