Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – Some results from Sunday’s YMCA Strong Kids run was a little off, and according to the organizer of the event, it’s because of an issue with the running chips.
Some runners found out after the race that their time was a few minutes off of any timing device they used.
Program Manager at the YMCA, Steven Dyce said they don’t know why at this time, but they think there was an issue syncing up with runners and the chips each runner was given.
"We had our actual clock which runners could see, and that timer was giving the actual time, just the results given after was off." said Dyce.
Dyce confirmed reports that a vehicle drove over the finishing line, but said it wasn’t the reason for the issue.
Dyce says the company that sets up the timing program, Results Canada, has been working with the YMCA on past races, and there has never been an issue.
As for the exact times, Dyce says most runners said their time was off of the actual time between two and a half and three minutes.
"I don’t think any runner will know their exact time, unless they recorded it themselves," said Dyce.
